Mary, Minnie, Mom, Grandma, are the names she was called by family and friends. You always felt welcome and special going to Moms house. She would always say " If you leave here hungry, it''s your own damm fault " There were many competitive games of Pinnacle and poker at the kitchen table. That may be where the Book of Hoyle was needed. Mom could really tell stories. She kept your interest with her smiles and her infectious laugh that could be heard throughout the house. While cleaning/cooking she loved to sing and dance to Tom Jones and Engelbert Humperdinck music. When family needed help, she wouldn''t say "can I help?" It was more like "look out your window! That''s me in your front yard!" Family was very inporant to her. Her brothers were always looking out for there sister, Minnie. She never forgot the many ways they protected her. Mom mentioned it often with a huge smile and a look of nostalgia. Growing up we realized we could talk to Mom about anything, but would agree that Politics, Religion,Insurance, and a guy turning right on Maple Ridge Road, were best subjects left alone.
Her son Ed tells a story about his mom and his aunt Pauline on a bus trip to Chicago for a family funeral, Mom asks her sister Pauline do you want a kiss, Paulina looks a little puzzled and said "here on the bus, well ok," at that point mom takes out some Hershey Kisses from her purse and Mom and aunt Pauline laugh all the way to Chicago. What a great memorie.
